Ausangate Trek & Cusco Trip Description

We do the 4-day Ausangate trek as a part of a 13-day (this can be flexible) guided trip to Cusco. We'll visit the ruins of Pisaq, Ollantaytambo, Machu Picchu, the Maras salt mines, the circular terraces of Moray, the weaving community of Chincheros, the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, and Cusco itself before we begin or trek. The trek itself begins about three hours from Cusco in Upis. Our first night we camp near hot springs with the most incredible view imaginable. From there our route ascends into the heights passing many lakes and beautiful vistas the whole way. The two high passes, and these are the highest passes used by any established trek in Peru, are approached by gradual ascents so they are not too difficult. We finish near more hot springs in Pacchanta. The full trip itinerary is flexible.
